Salal Consulting, based in Vancouver, BC, was founded in 2010 by Alison Biely and Dara Edmonds and specializes in consulting related to Project Management, Indigenous issues, Archaeology, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
Salal is committed to the process of Reconciliation with Indigenous people of Canada, and to the principles of UNDRIP and the TRC Calls to action.

Salal, a versatile, adaptable, and resilient evergreen plant found in coastal forest of the Pacific Northwest, is notable for its leathery green leaves and its dark blue, juicy berries. It was once a significant food source of Aboriginal people along the West Coast; the berries were eaten fresh and dried into cakes, and used to flavour soups, thicken salmon eggs and sweeten other foods. Salal was also traditionally imported for its astringent medicinal qualities. Today the plant remains a valuable food source for black bear, elk and deer. It is also harvested widely for use in floral arrangements, and the berries make delicious wine, jellies and pies.
